About this area
Eye care holds a special place in the Dogra family. Vaid Kaviraj Pt. Amarnath Dogra was known for his Ayurvedic eye-care practice, and in 1947, after Partition, he founded the Dogra Ayurvedic Eye Hospital in Jalandhar. His son Vaid Dr. Virender Kumar Dogra and grandson Dr. Varun Dogra have carried that interest forward as part of a broader Ayurvedic practice.
This page explains, in general terms, how Ayurvedic eye care is approached at our clinics: a careful consultation, an individual assessment and supportive care where it is suitable. It is meant to work alongside ophthalmologists and eye hospitals, never in place of them.
The Ayurvedic view
Classical Ayurvedic texts give the eyes (Netra) their own place, and traditional eye care looks at routine, diet, sleep and rest as well as the eyes themselves. In practice, Dr. Varun first understands your concern and history, and suggests an ophthalmic evaluation wherever one is needed.

Since 1947
Vaid Kaviraj Pt. Amarnath Dogra trained in Lahore, became a Kaviraj in 1931 and was known for his Ayurvedic eye-care practice. After Partition he founded the Dogra Ayurvedic Eye Hospital in Jalandhar in 1947. That heritage is why eye care holds a special place in the family’s work today.

Your current medicines. Please do not stop or change any prescribed medicine on your own. Share everything you take at the consultation, and discuss any change with the doctor who prescribed it.
Questions
No. It is meant to work alongside qualified ophthalmic care. If an ophthalmologist is treating an eye condition, please continue that care and bring your reports to the consultation.
For sudden changes in vision, severe pain, injury or any urgent eye symptom, go to an eye specialist or emergency care straight away. Dr. Varun may also recommend an eye examination before advising any Ayurvedic care.
Not always. Suitability depends on the concern, your history and an individual assessment, which is why every plan starts with a consultation.
Yes, a first conversation can happen by video or audio call. Some concerns need an in-person visit or an eye examination, and you will be told if that is the case.
