Cataract

Cloudy or blurred vision and glare at night? Dr. Varun Dogra comes from a family of Ayurvedic eye-care vaidyas and offers care alongside your eye doctor.

Overview

What is cataract?

A cataract is clouding of the eye's clear lens, which lowers vision. Most cataracts come with age. It usually affects both eyes, one earlier than the other.

Left untreated, it can lead to serious vision loss. Regular check-ups with an eye doctor are important, and surgery may be needed when they advise it.

The Ayurvedic view

Ayurveda calls it timira and links it to aggravated Vata, which dries the tissues. In early stages, care aims to calm Vata and nourish the eye's nerves and tissues, alongside your eye doctor's treatment.
