What is Panchakarma?
Panchakarma, often translated as “five actions”, is a group of classical therapeutic procedures described in the traditional texts of Ayurveda.

It is one of the best-known parts of Ayurveda, and one of the most misunderstood: it is not a single treatment, and it is not the same for everyone.
Traditionally, Panchakarma is understood in three phases: preparation (Purvakarma), the main procedure (Pradhana Karma), and a period of care and gradual return to routine afterwards (Paschat Karma). Which procedure, if any, is considered depends entirely on the individual.

How it fits your plan
Panchakarma is never the first step.
For many people Panchakarma is not part of the plan at all, and that is a normal outcome of an individual assessment.

Dr. Varun first understands your concerns, history, current medicines and overall health. Only then does he consider whether a procedure is appropriate, which one, and whether it should sit alongside formulations or diet and lifestyle guidance. For many people Panchakarma is not part of the plan at all, and that is a normal outcome of an individual assessment.

Quick answers
Panchakarma: questions
What is Panchakarma?
Panchakarma is a group of classical Ayurvedic therapeutic procedures. It is traditionally carried out in three phases (preparation, the main procedure and aftercare), and the procedure chosen, if any, depends on individual assessment.
Is Panchakarma suitable for everyone?
No. Suitability depends on your health, history, current medicines and personal circumstances. Dr. Varun decides whether any procedure is appropriate only after a consultation.
Do I need a consultation before Panchakarma?
Yes. A consultation always comes first, so that any procedure can be selected, or ruled out, according to your individual assessment.
How long does Panchakarma take?
It varies by person and by procedure, including the preparation and aftercare phases. Dr. Varun explains the expected time commitment before you decide.
Can I continue my regular medicines?
Tell Dr. Varun about every medicine you take. Do not stop or change any prescribed medicine on your own; any change should be discussed with the doctor who prescribed it.
