Problems we treat · Joint, Bone & Musculoskeletal Health
Osteoarthritis makes joints painful and stiff, most often in the knees, hips, hands and back. Ayurveda aims to support joint comfort and slow further wear.
Overview
Osteoarthritis is a wear-and-tear disease of the joints. The cartilage that cushions the ends of the bones slowly breaks down, so the bones rub together.
This causes pain, swelling and loss of movement. It is most common in middle and old age, and can range from mild to severe.
The Ayurvedic view
Ayurveda calls it sandhivata, caused by aggravated vata dosha in the joints. Care focuses on preventing further damage and nourishing and lubricating the joints.
Causes
Too much cold, stale or dry food.
Irregular sleep, excessive travel and holding back natural urges.
Exposure to very cold and dry weather.
Long-term mental stress or trauma.

Ayurvedic approach
Dr. Varun listens to your symptoms, history, food habits and routine, and looks at any reports or medicines you already take.
Nadi pariksha (pulse) and Prakriti (body type) assessment help him understand your individual balance.
Where suitable, a personal plan may combine diet and routine changes, classical Ayurvedic medicines and, for some people, Panchakarma.
Progress is reviewed and the plan adjusted, at the clinic or on WhatsApp.

Home remedies
Gently massage warm sesame oil on stiff, painful joints in the morning and evening.
Soak one teaspoon of fenugreek seeds in a cup of water overnight. Stir and drink it the next morning.
Fenugreek can lower blood sugar, so diabetics on medicine should check with their doctor first; do not massage a hot, red or injured joint.
